But these are like death kisses. I always heard that little noise inside the aquarium, and then saw a big amazon sword with holes. Well here is the cause.
Clown Loaches can only be with hardy plants. I’m trying it with some hardy valisnerias, but also with more soft ones in the back.
With the new decoration the loach looks pretty bored, I think we may get it a partner.
We got it for controlling the snails in a well planted aquarium, but now I don’t dare to put it there. We also have a plecostomus there, and I read that the loach could bite it in the tail. When they grow, and they do grow very big , they begin losing their coloration, and some kind of knives grows under its eyes, they are called eyeball knives, and can be dangerous to other fish.

So better think next time you get one of these pretty fish.

Aww, he looked very skinny! Are you sure you were feeding him properly? Some loaches are picky eaters but they do eat a lot. Also, coloration does not necessarily fade over time. Coloration fades when the fish is stressed, so if you let it grow large in the same aquarium, it will get stressed and fade. This fading is for the most part not reversible. In the wild, you can find 12" clown loaches with vibrant colors.
I've had 3 clown loaches in my planted high tech tank for over a year with only a very few plant munching issues. These were always solved by giving them some cucumber or feeding them some more (they LOVE cucumber or zucchini). They never bother other fish in the tank either.
I think it's more of a case of misunderstanding as these are wild caught fish and they are not used to tank life. For me, their quirks are more than made up for by their silly personalities, bright colors, and clown-like behavior.
